The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest
Happy Birthday Arthur Conan Doyle
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born on this day 151 years ago. He is the author of the timeless Sherlock Holmes mysteries. Sherlock Holmes is one of the great characters of English literature and has survived very well into the 21st century.
Although multiple novels and films have featured Holmes, nothing can really compare to Conan Doyle's original stories. He wrote 56 short stories and 4 novels featuring the great detective. We have the entire Holmes collection in three large volumes under FIC DOY in the adult section.

Happy Mother Goose Day!
May 1st is Mother Goose Day!
So why not celebrate by reading or reciting your favorite nursery rhyme. We have many collections of nursery rhymes here at the library that you can check out.
In honor of today, here is my favorite nursery rhyme:
Little Miss Muffet, sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey;
Along came a spider,
Who sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away.
