Thank You!!
We recently received very generous donations from the Coralville/North Corridor Rotary Club and the Solon American Legion Auxiliary. Both of these organizations have been strong supporters of the library in the past and we want to thank them for their continued support.
We used the money from the Rotary Club to purchase replacement copies for many books in the children's collection that had grown worn and damaged from many years of checkouts. With the money from the American Legion Auxiliary we purchased several new holiday titles that focus on the Fourth of July and Memorial Day holidays.
Thanks to them once again for their donations!

Pictures From the Holiday Party
Even though it was a very cold night on Tuesday, over 150 people braved the weather to come to our annual Holiday Party. Lots of children came with their lists in hand, ready to tell Santa what they want for Christmas. Everyone had a great time making stockings, doing scratch-art ornaments, and eating lots of cookies!
Here are some pictures from the party. If you would like to see some more photos, you can visit our Flickr page.

Every year, books continue to be challenged in libraries and schools across the country for a variety of different reasons. Here at the Solon Library, we have made a display near the entrance that includes an assortment of some of the most challenged titles. There is a shelf devoted to children's books, young adult books, and adult titles.
Come to the library and see the display, grab a bookmark, and check out a banned book to take home and read.

Turn Off That TV and Pick Up a Book
It's time once again for National TV Turnoff Week. From September 19 to September 25, families are encouraged to leave the television off and find other things to keep them busy. There are lots of options, like going to a park, going on a walk, or playing board games.
There are also plenty of things to keep you busy at the library. Why not check out a puzzle and put it together as a family. Or you could check out a puppet and put on a show. And of course, there are always plenty of books here to keep you busy all week long.
So stop in at the library to prepare for the week and see how long you can go without turning on the TV.

Yummy yummy! On Tuesday, May 25, storytime is all about food. Come and listen to some delicious stories and then make up your own plate of breakfast food.
