Tuesday Storytime With Jennifer

On Tuesday, September 1st, we are going to have a purr-fectly good time at storytime. I will be reading stories about cats including one of my favorites, Hondo and Fabian by Peter McCarty. Feel free to drop in and make one of these very cute kitty door hangers. Preschool storytime is geared for ages 2-5, but siblings are always welcome. Each session consists of 20-25 minutes of stories, songs, and action rhymes followed by a craft. No registration is required.

Pajama Time Is Back

Pajama time with Miss Kelly resumes Wednesday, September 2nd at 7pm. Put your pajamas on, grab your favorite bear, and come to the children's section of the library to relax and share stories, songs and rhymes. This weekly program is designed for children under 7 and their families. The program will last approximately 30 minutes. It is a great way to get ready for bed (toothbrush optional)!

Our DVD Collection is Expanding

Thanks to a generous gift from the Friends of the Library, we recently ordered lots of new DVDs to add to the collection. We tried to focus on movies that the whole family could enjoy. The order included some newer films (like Nancy Drew, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Bolt) as well as some classics (like Pollyanna and Swiss Family Robinson). We've already put about twenty new DVDs out on the shelves, and look for the rest of them to be available soon. Here's a quick glimpse of some of the new DVDs waiting to be processed:

New Series Alert: The Warriors by Erin Hunter

We've been ordering quite a few new childrens and young adult books in the past few weeks, and I wanted to highlight one new series in particular. We now have all six books in the original Warriors series, all six books in the Warriors: The New Prophecy series, and the first three books in the Seekers series. These books are all written by Erin Hunter (trivia fact: Erin Hunter is actually three different people!!! Kate Cary, Cherith Baldry and Victoria Holmes) and they are great for kids who love animals or adventure stories. The Warriors books follow a wild clan of cats that live in the forest. They have to deal with all the same problems that kids do (bullies, making new friends, and secrets) but the cats also have to worry about dangerous enemies like dogs and badgers. The Seekers series is the latest from Erin Hunter and it follows three very different bears and their struggle to live in the wild. These books can all be found in the juvenile fiction section under JFiction/HUN.
